How Period Delay works
Keeps progesterone high
A period starts when progesterone falls. Norethisterone keeps it raised, so the lining is maintained and bleeding does not begin.
Your period returns after
Usually two to three days after the last tablet.
It is not contraception
Norethisterone does not prevent pregnancy. Keep using your usual contraception.
How to take Period Delay
- Start three days before
- Begin three days before your period is due, or it may start anyway.
- One tablet three times a day
- Continue for as long as you want the period delayed, up to a maximum of 17 days.
- Stop when you are ready
- Your period should arrive two to three days later.
Important safety information
This is a prescription-only medicine. It is dispensed only after a UK registered prescriber has reviewed your assessment and decided it is appropriate for you. Tell us about every medicine you take, including anything bought without a prescription. If you have a reaction that worries you, stop taking it and contact us or your GP. In an emergency call 999.

How does the assessment work?
You answer a short set of questions about your health, your history and what you are hoping for. A UK registered prescriber reads every answer. If anything needs clarifying we contact you before your order is dispensed, and if the treatment is not appropriate we say so and explain why.
How is my order delivered?
In plain, unbranded packaging by tracked delivery, usually within one to two working days of being approved. Nothing on the outside indicates what is inside or who it came from.
Can I speak to someone?
Yes. The pharmacy team is available throughout your treatment, and you can ask for a call with a prescriber at any point. Aftercare is included rather than charged for.
