How Mounjaro works
Two receptors, not one
Tirzepatide acts on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which is what distinguishes it from the semaglutide treatments.
Appetite settles
Hunger signals quieten, so smaller meals feel like enough and snacking between them becomes easier to resist.
Slower stomach emptying
Food leaves the stomach more slowly, which extends how long you feel full after eating.
How to take Mounjaro
- Inject once a week
- The same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Rotate between the stomach, thigh and upper arm.
- Start low, build slowly
- Treatment starts at 2.5mg for four weeks. Your prescriber increases the dose only when you are ready, which keeps side effects manageable.
- Store it in the fridge
- Between 2 and 8 degrees. A pen can be kept at room temperature for up to 30 days if that is easier while travelling.

Both reduce appetite, but Mounjaro acts on two hormone receptors where Wegovy acts on one. In trials tirzepatide produced greater average weight loss, though individual response varies and the better choice depends on your history and how you tolerate it.
What are the common side effects?
Nausea, reduced appetite, constipation or loose stools, and tiredness, most often in the first weeks after starting or increasing a dose. They usually settle. Tell us if they do not, because holding at a dose for longer often solves it.
How does the assessment work?
You answer a short set of questions about your health, your history and what you are hoping for. A UK registered prescriber reads every answer. If anything needs clarifying we contact you before your order is dispensed, and if the treatment is not appropriate we say so and explain why.
How is my order delivered?
